چکیده

Introduction In the recent years, emphasis was shifted from luminal narrowing to vessel wall composition for assessment of the potential risk for acute ischemic attacks (1,2). Vessel wall enhancement has been suggested as a potential marker for the identification of high-risk atherosclerotic plaques and has been associated with proinflammatory cardiovascular risk factors (3-7). Gadofosveset trisodium is a Gadolinium-based contrast agent with prolonged intravascular enhancement due to albuminbinding in the plasma and enables prolonged imaging with high vascular contrast (8). The current study was carried out to analyze the level of plaque enhancement at 3.0 Tesla with gadofosveset trisodium as compared with that with Gd-DTPA.

MR Angiography of Collateral Arteries in a Hind Limb Ischemia Model: Comparison between Blood Pool Agent Gadomer and Small Contrast Agent Gd-DTPA

The objective of this study was to compare the blood pool agent Gadomer with a small contrast agent for the visualization of ultra-small, collateral arteries (diameter<1 mm) with high resolution steady-state MR angiography (SS-MRA) in a rabbit hind limb ischemia model. Ten rabbits underwent unilateral femoral artery ligation. On days 14 and 21, high resolution SS-MRA (voxel size 0.49×0.49×0.50 ...

3.0T contrast-enhanced, submilimeter MRA of the supraaortic arteries: does the signal gain at high field strength allow to replace the phased array coil by the quadrature body coil?

Purpose of the study was to evaluate contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE MRA) of the supraaortic arteries at 3.0T using the quadrature body coil as transmitter and receiver. CE MRA was performed with randomly segmented central k-space ordering (CENTRA) in 43 patients and 5 volunteers using a large FOV (350 mm) and a high image matrix of 432 x 432 (nonzerofilled voxel: 0.66 mm3).Our experience ...

MRI of Coronary Wall Remodeling in a Swine Model of Coronary Injury using an Elastin-Binding Contrast Agent Running Title: von Bary et al: MRI of Coronary Wall Using an Elastin Specific Compound

Background The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and in-stent-restenosis. Elastin is an essential component of the ECM. ECM degradation can lead to plaque destabilization while enhanced synthesis typically leads to vessel wall remodeling resulting in arterial stenosis or in-stent-restenosis following stent implantation. The objective of th...

Comparison of Gd-BOPTA and Gd-DPTA late gadolinium enhancement for visualizing scar, using valve enhancement as a surrogate for scar adjacent to blood

Introduction: Gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA; MultiHance; Bracco Imaging SpA, Milan, Italy) is a recently approved contrast agent with excellent properties for MR angiography (MRA) including a high relaxivity and slow clearance (1). A contrast agent with useful properties for both late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and MRA is important for specific applications, e.g. for preand postpulmonary v...
